The end of a braided or twisted rope, such as a sailor's halyard or sail sheet rope, is fitted with a sealing end and connector for joining rope ends, without having to tie, splice or whip the rope. The rope is slid into a cylindrical-frustro-conical female element, whose cylindrical section is twisted towards the rope end to reinforce the connector. The rope end is then unravelled over a slightly greater length than the frustro-conical section, and a frustro-conical male element is introduced between the untwisted rope ends. Strong pulls are exerted on the rope to obtain a firm wedging of the rope fibres between the male and the female element, and a snap hook is screwed into the female element.
|
