High output dye laser - is excited through sides of dye cell and is optically pumped by another laser

The dye laser provides a high intensity output without the need for adjustment of the dye concentration. The laser has a basic resonant cavity and dye cell (1) having a given concentration, excitation being through the sides (4) of the cell. Excitation is by a continuous or pulsed laser (6) via a separator (7) into two paths, one via a totally reflecting mirror (8), and a dichroic mirror (9), the remaining path having the totally reflecting mirror (2) outside the basic loop. The output is taken from the dichroic cell and an output mirror (3).
