PURPOSE:To obtain a coated surface free of irregularities of a transfer layer and having favorable leveling properties, by incorporating a specified zirconyl fatty acid salt in the transfer layer, in a thermal transfer recording medium wherein the transfer layer comprising a coloring agent in a heat-fusible binder is provided on one side of a heat-resistant base. CONSTITUTION:A zirconyl fatty acid salt of the formula ZrO(RCOO)2, wherein R is a 1-25C saturated or unsaturated fatty acid residue, is incorporated in the transfer layer. An ink composition comprises 1-30% of a coloring agent, 95-70% of a binder, 0-2% of an additive and 0.1-10% of a zirconyl fatty acid salt, and is prepared by adding these components into an appropriate solvent so as to obtain a solid content of 15-40%. A coated film obtained by applying said composition to a base by coating or printing is free of defects such as migration irregularities, and shows a sufficient film-forming property. |
