PURPOSE:To improve the magnetic characteristic by forming a lower protective film of a prescribed film thickness on a ceramic substrate. CONSTITUTION:A lower protective film 15' is set to thickness of 200-500mum by utilizing a fact that a magnetic head slider 8' has slightly a floating angle (usually, h1/h2=2), when it is in a floating state on a disk medium 3. That is to say, in a manufacturing process of the magnetic slider 8', there is a recess quantity (e) due to a difference of the material such as hardness, etc. of a slider material and a protective film material, at the time of lap working of a rail (floating surface) 11 which requires the working accuracy. However, since the lower protective film 15' has been formed thickly as 200-500mum, a distance C between a thin film magnetic head 14 and the disk medium 3 becomes roughly equal to a distance h2 between the rear end of the slider and the disk medium, at the time of floating. In this way, an increase of an effective floating quantity of the head caused by the recess quantity (e) can be prevented. |
