PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorption cold and hot water device and a method for controlling it in which a hot water supply and an independent hot water supply operation can be carried out by directly using high temperature exhaust gas from a high temperature regenerator. SOLUTION: The absorption cold and hot water device includes a heating mechanism for burning fuel 3 or a heating mechanism for introducing high temperature exhaust gas from an external part and burning the fuel in the exhaust gas in a high temperature regenerator GH. An exhaust gas boiler GB for recovering heat is provided in a passage of combustion exhaust gas discharged from the GH. In the GB, a hot water supply heat exchanger W1 communicating with a vapor part is provided. In a low temperature regenerator GL, a heater La by vapor from the GB and a heater Lb by refrigerant vapor generated in the GH are provided. In a refrigerant passage, a second hot water supply heat exchanger W2 communicating with the vapor part of the GH can be provided. In the hot water supply heat exchanger, a hot water supply passage can be provided in which hot water to be supplied is firstly guided to the W1 connected to the GB, and then, guided to the second W2.
