The invention relates to a so-called "diamond pin" for producing diamond wire for cutting stone material. This diamond pin is formed from a deformable metal sleeve acting as a disposable support, and two diamond rings fixed on to the ends of the sleeve by brazing or bonding. There remains between the two diamond rings a free sleeve portion to be used for fixing to the wire by swaging.
