PURPOSE:To obtain cadmium sulfoselenide uniform in compsn., high in crystallinity, narrow in size distribution, and small in agglomeration tendency by forming an aq. soln. of Cd<++> ions into aerosol particles and blowing them into an atm. of a mixture of H2S and H2Se to react them. CONSTITUTION:A soln. 1 contg. Cd<++> ions is sprayed from a nozzle 2 into a 100% gas mixture of H2S/H2Se kept at 60 deg.C with a mantle heater 3. The resulting mixture 7 of CdS and CdSe deposits on a reaction vessel 8, taken out of it, washed with water and methanol, and dried. Then, CdCl2 and NaCl are added to 400g of this deposit, the mixture is filled into a quartz crucible to burn the mixture. After the burning, it is allowed to cool, washed, and freed of ions, dried, and again burned at 450 deg.C for 1hr. The CdS1-xSex powder thus obtained becomes very uniform solid soln. particles having smooth surface. |
