<p>PURPOSE:To allow precise retrieval of a tape position without overrun and to prevent the elongation of a tape and the generation of deform by decreasing a tape speed in accordance with approach to a target position of a magnetic tape position. CONSTITUTION:A difference between the current position of a magnetic tape through a latch circuit 25 and the target position in accordance with a keyboard 30 is calculated in an operational circuit 26, a motor drive voltage in correspondence to the position difference is generated through an absolute value circuit 28, D/A convertor 29, etc., and a tape traveling mechanism 33 is controlled. Thus in accordance with the approach to a target position, a tape traveling speed is reduced, and a tape position is precisely detected without overrun. Moreover, and the elongation of a tape and the deformation are prevented without severe tensile force application to a tape.</p> |
