PURPOSE:To perform stably an ion exchange treatment of a liquid to be treated for a long period of time by subjecting further the liquid contg. colloidal material treated with ion exchange fibers to a treatment with a granular ion exchange resin. CONSTITUTION:Colloidal materials are adsorbed and filtered when a liquid to be treated is passed through a layer consisting essentially of ion exchange fibers having usually >=5cm height at 0.025-0.25g/cm<2> density. Ions can be further removed therefrom by passing the liquid to be treated after the filtration through the layer of a commercially marketed spherical ion exchange resin having usually 100-1,000mu diameter. Such ion exchange treatment is adequate for a condensate treatment of a condensate of an atomic power plant, etc. and since said treatment has high power to remove the colloidal material and ions and obviates a decrease in filtration resistance and liquid flow resistance, the treatment at a high flow rate is made possible. |
