The invention relates to means for receiving and retaining proteins on a supported surface. The invention consists in bringing, in the solubilised state, proteins into contact with a free surface formed on a chemically inert support, the said surface possessing a generally hydrophobic character while carrying charges of a given sign, in the presence of a detergent carrying charges of a sign opposite to the given sign, the concentration of the detergent being sufficient to preserve, where appropriate, the solubility of the said proteins but not exceeding that which would result in an excessively selective fixing of the detergent onto the said surface, at the expense of the proteins.
