A pressure-resistant metal container 2 for receiving liquids, in particular a beer barrel 1, has at one end 5a a hole in which a connection bush 6 with an immersion tube 7 is fixed pressure-tightly. Provided at the other end 5b is a moulded cup 8 with an at least approximately flat base surface 9 towards which the free end of the immersion tube 7 extends with spacing. In order that, in the case of overpressure occurring in the metal container 2, the latter cannot rupture in an uncontrolled manner, but a pressure reduction takes place in a predetermined direction, a notch is worked into the flat base surface 9 of the cup 8 as an intended rupture point which at least almost surrounds a limited area of the base surface (Figure 1). <IMAGE>
