摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To exactly measure the length of filamentous microorganisms by subjecting the various density images of the microorganisms to binary coding then to fine line processing to adjust all of the filamentous parts to picture elements of one size, extracting the microorganisms and erasing the images except the images of the microorganisms. CONSTITUTION:The various density image V of a liquid mixture composed of water and the microorganisms is obtd. by controlling 300 an image pickup device 200 and is subjected to image processing 400. The signal V is subjected to A/D conversion 510, storage 610 and calculation 710 of the density frequency distribution. The distribution includes a bright background (b), flocculating filamentous microorganisms and noise c+f+n; therefore, the threshold value T is determined and is binary-coded 720 to black and white. The binary coded signal is stored 620. The filamentous microorganisms are subjected to plural times of fine line processing 730 by which the sizes of the microorganisms (f) are all converted to the image of one picture element. The images are stored 630. The number of the black picture elements is integrated 810 and is subtracted of the picture element-component of the noise (n). The length of the microorganisms is calculated 820 at specified time intervals. The average length per image plane of the microorganisms is calculated 830 and the length L(v) of the microorganisms per unit volume is calculated and displayed. The length of the filamentous microorganisms is exactly measured by the above-mentioned constitution.</p>
