16 A pulse-width modulated motor drive for an AC motor includes components to sense the primary current of the motor and derive signals corresponding to it and a variable frequency inverter supplying AC to the motor. The system includes timing wave reference signals, and a pulse width modulator, which is controlled by the reference signals, for controlling the inverter. A motor speed signal generator and components to compensate any phase or amplitude difference between the time wave reference and the primary current wave form in accordance with the speed signal.
