PURPOSE:To permit reliable cold starting of the engine by making indication of the ignition on the basis of a previously measured period from the start of energization of an intake air preheater till the ignition of fuel. CONSTITUTION:A semiconductor timer circuit 4 providing a delay time corresponding to an experimentally determined period from the start of energization of an intake air pre-heater till the ignition of fuel is provided between a switch 3 and an indication lamp 5. With this construction, when a switch 3 is closed at the time of the start of the diesel engine, energization of an electric heater 2 is started, while at the same time a transistor 14 is triggered to turn on an indication lamp 5. After a predetermined period is elasped, the terminal voltage across a capacitor 8 exceeds the zener voltage of a constant voltage diode 11 to trigger a transistor 12 and cut off a transistor 14 for extinguishing the indication lamp 5. At this time, an intake pre-heater heated by the electric heater 12 is ignited. Thus, the period, during which the starting is possible, can be accurately detected to attain the intended end. |
