PURPOSE:To contrive to shorten assembling time, in a method for assembling a self-contained aggregate in a catalytic converter, by arranging a specific receiving member and a specific guide member and performing the winding of a seal mat and the mounting of a mesh ring by one process in such a state that a catalyst is made horizontal. CONSTITUTION:After a seal mat 17 is engaged with the groove 40 of a receiving member 37, a catalyst is located and placed. Subsequently, a revolving arm 42 is revolved to the catalyst side and the seal mat 17 is picked up to be wound around the catalyst 3 while a mesh ring 16 is held by a holding/pressing mechanism 30 to allow a press rod 122 to be pierced through said mesh ring 15 and moved so as to approach a guide mechanism 28. Next, a guide member 27 moves to the catalyst side to hold the catalyst 3 between the guide member 27 and an elastic plate 60. At this time, the support by a support 63 is released. Then, the pressing mechanism 30 moves toward the catalyst 3 and the mesh ring 16 is moved while gradually enlarged by the oblique outer surface of the guide member 27 and pressed to be finally engaged with the catalyst 3. |
