The invention relates to a boat sail-support device which is easy to automate, to program and can be adapted to all types of boat. It affords safety via its possibility for feathering the sail in the event of danger. For a small mast height, it develops a large sailing surface area, close to double the square of the height of the mast. It consists of a frame 2 which is extensible so as to adapt to the beam line of the boats, of a vertical cylindrical fixed mast 1 fixed to the frame 2, onto which the pivoting mast 5 is drawn, on which there are fixed along the two generating lines, opposite at 180 DEG , two slides 7, 8, on which, driven by a a chain, two movable pieces 15, 16 move, crossing one another, the piece 15 of which assists in folding the sail-support, on which pieces are fixed the shafts 25, 26 which are threaded in their centre 52; articulated on these shafts are the arms 17, 19, 18, 20 which are connected among themselves in pairs by the vertical arms 21, 22 which are arranged in two parallel planes. The sail is fixed to this assembly of articulated arms. Automation of the sail-support is carried out with the aid of electric motors which actuate the folding and unfolding of the sail, the trimming of the sail to the wind, the raising of the lower arms 18, 20 above the waves in the event of heavy listing. <IMAGE>
