To improve a conveyor belt supporting roller, especially for underground operation, the supporting plastic foam body 1 which accommodates the bearing shells is covered by a supporting roller tube 5 made of rubber containing carbon, which tube has an electrically conducting connection to the metal bearing shell 3 via a projection 6, 7 which takes the form of an open wheel, in order to prevent sparking by diverting static charges, as can be seen most easily in Figure 1. <IMAGE>
