PURPOSE:To prevent a developer from sticking on a part where there is not latent image at the start and stop of the operation of a recording process by storing the potential rise and fall gradients of a conductive sleeve in a storage part, controlling a voltage supplied to an electrostatic charger on the basis of the stored information, and charging a photosensitive body electrostatically to the controlled voltage value. CONSTITUTION:When a device is started to operate and the photosensitive body 1 rotates, the potential rise gradient of the sleeve 1 and the rotation time of the photosensitive body 1 from the electostatic charger 2 to the sleeve 11 are read out of the storage part 3 and inputted to a control part 5, which controls the voltage of a power source 4 according to the input information. The control voltage value is boosted by a boosting part 6 and applied to the charger 2 and the photosensitive body 1 is charged electrostatically by the charger 2 with the potential rise gradient and then charged continuously at nearly the same potential. When the photosensitive body 1 rotates until its specific part reaches an exposing device 8, the exposing device 8 irradiates the photosensitive body 1 on the basis of image information to form an electrostatic latent image on the latent image part 9a of the photosensitive body 1. |
