In a manually shifted transmission for a motor vehicle with double clutch a central shaft emerges from the one clutch disc, by means of which shaft the one group of transmission gears is driven, whilst from the other clutch disc a hollow shaft emerges, on which the other group of transmission gears is arranged. In order to be able to use both clutch discs for torque transmission when starting the motor vehicle and to prevent any overheating, the central shaft and the hollow shaft are rotationally fixable to one another by a clutch.
