Bis-carboxy:chromonyl:oxy propanol salts with heterocyclic bases - used for treating and preventing eye, nose and skin allergies

Salts (I) of 1,3-bis(2-carboxychromone-5-yloxy) propan-2-ol (II) with a basic, 6-membered, N-heterocycle (III) which is an antihistamine antagonising the H1-receptors, are new. (III) are esp. trimeprazine, cyproheptadine; pheniramine; mepyramine; chlor-or brom-pheniramine. dimethindene; carbinoxamine; tripelennamine or triprolidine. Pref. (I) has solubility in water >1, pref. >4 w/v%. Used for prophylactic or curative treatment of allergic states of the eye, nose or skin, e.g. rhinitis or eczema. Compared with either (II) or (III) alone the mixts. are more effective; require smaller doses; cause fewer side effects; can be administered to the site of the allergy and are more stable. Pref. daily doses are 1-20 mg (II) as disodium salt and 0.5-2mg(III).
