A diaphragm spring clutch cover assembly 2 comprising a cover 4, a pressure plate 8 and a diaphragm spring 6 acting between fulcrum rings 20, 22 on the cover and a fulcrum arrangement 40 on the pressure plate. Fulcrum arrangement 40 comprises a resilient ring 56 supported at spaced intervals therearound by spaced lands 52 on the pressure plate. The portions of the fulcrum ring 56 spanning the gaps between the lands 52 have U-shaped saddles 60 thereon. These saddles are pressed by the diaphragm spring 6 during a clutch engagement movement of the spring and since the saddles sit proud of the fulcrum ring 56, the portions of the ring carrying saddles are deformed axially of the clutch into the spaces between the lands to cushion the re-engagement of the clutch provided with the assembly 2.
