PURPOSE:To obtain increased stability to an electrolyte as well as improved pressure characteristics and to prevent the formation of black spot marks and the staining of a screen by incorporating polymer latex contg. a specified nonionic surfactant into a silver halide emulsion layer on a support. CONSTITUTION:Polymer latex contg. a nonionic surfactant represented by the formula as a stabilizer is incorporated into one or more silver halide emulsion layers formed on a support to obtain a sensitive material having superior pressure characteristics. The stability of the emulsion to an electrolyte is increased and the formation of black spot marks and the staining of a screen can be prevented. In the formula, each of R1 and R2 is H, (un)substituted alkyl or (un)substituted aryl, each of R3-R6 is (un)substituted alkyl, (un)substituted aryl, (un)substituted alkoxy, halogen, acylamido, sulfonamido, carbamoyl or sulfamoyl; R4 and R6 may be H; the substituents of the phenyl rings may be asymmetric; and each of n1 and n2 is 2-50. |
