<p>An optical fibre filter is produced by extending a depressed cladding or coaxial optical fibre (10) so that a portion held between clamps (16, 18) becomes tapered. The power transmitted through the fibre from a single frequency laser source (12) is detected and the drive to the clamps is stopped when the power reaches a pre-selected point for the desired filter characteristics.</p> |
