摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a detector which has two functions of a surface ionization detector (SID) and a hydrogen flame ionization detector (FID) with an easy changeover, by providing a nozzle as opposed to a heating electrode while a collector electrode and an opposed electrode are arranged facing to each other near the heating electrode. CONSTITUTION:A sample gas is blown against a heating electrode 15 together with air or oxygen as carrier gas from a nozzle 4. At this point, the polarity of a DC power source 9 is selected and when the positive pole thereof is connected to the collector electrode 11 while the negative pole thereof to the opposed electrode 13, the sample gas is hydrolyzed on the surface of the electrode 15 to be ionized. The flow of the electrons released in the ionization is caught by the electrode 11 and a detector acts as SID. Then, when the carrier gas is switched over to hydrogen and blown against the electrode 15 together with the sample gas, hydrogen automatically ignites and burns the sample gas to generate ions. At this point, if the polarity of the power source 9 is selected and the negative pole thereof is connected to the electrode 11 while the positive pole thereof to the electrode 13, the flow of ions runs between the electrodes and thus, the detector also acts as FID.
