PURPOSE:To prevent an image of a retrieval use mark from being formed on a recording medium, by detecting an area corresponding to an image of a microfilm, and controlling an image forming area by its signal. CONSTITUTION:At the time of printing a projection image, while scanning mirrors 10, 11 are moved in the direction as indicated with an arrow R from its stand-by position and positioned at a prescribed start position, an area in a broken line is projected to a CCD array 15, and image information by light and darkness of an image is inputted and sent successively to a memory circuit and stored. In an operating circuit, based on memory information of the memory circuit, coordinates of front and rear ends (a), (b) and upper and lower ends c1, c2 of the image which has eliminated a retrieval mark are obtained, and an image area is detected. A result of this calculation is sent to a picture frame position determining circuit, and an area for forming an image on a photosensitive drum 12 is determined. When the operation is ended, shutters 16, 18 are controlled by an output from the picture frame position determining circuit, an exposure of the outside of the image area is prevented, and a print on which the retrieval mark and the black frame are not recorded is obtained. |
