PURPOSE:To contrive low cost, by providing a temperature detector, detecting the temperature of each recording head, on a head support board which is common to each recording head. CONSTITUTION:Respective recording heads 6A-6D are installed on a carriage 5 in a position that permits their mounting on a common head support board 7 fixed to the carriage 5. The detect signal from a temperature detector 8 provided in the head support board 7 is input to a CPU10 through a signal conductor 22. Therefore, with the temperature detected by the temperature detector 8 not more than the preset value, a heater 19 is turned ON to increase the temperature of the recording heads 6A-6D, and with that temperature not less than the preset value, the heater 19 is turned OFF. In this manner, the temperatures of the respective recording heads 6A-6D can be controlled to be within the desired temperature range on the basis of the temperature of the support board 7, which enables the temperature detecting means and the temperature controlling means for the plurality of the recording heads to be simplified in structure to realize low cost. |
