Calcining installation for recovering ferrous metals and aluminium from scrapped motor vehicles. The upper strand 4 of an openwork endless chain circulates from a loading station 8 through a combustion chamber 2 in which is arranged, under this upper strand 4, a reception funnel 23 for the molten aluminium connected by a channel 26 to a crucible 27, while a sloping plane 32 which follows the endless chain leads the calcined chassis to a unit for mechanical processing such as a press or a grinder (mill). <IMAGE>
