The invention relates to leg trainer, which essentially comprises an inclined carriage which is guided on rails on a corresponding frame, can be loaded so that it is more difficult to raise and on which the back of the person undergoing training is supported. The design of the trainer is to be such that tilting or jamming of the carriage is impossible. This is achieved in that the guide rails (3, 4) which are provided on both sides of the carriage (6) are C-shaped in cross-section with their open sides facing one another and are provided with running rails (24) on the inside and at the bottom of the said C-shapes, on which running rails (24) run grooved pulleys (25) which are adapted to the cross-section of the running rail, have play in relation to, i.e. are at a distance from all inside walls (26) of the C-shapes and serve as abutment for the transverse spindles (28) which support the inclined carriage (6). <IMAGE>
