PURPOSE:To improve propulsive efficiency, by a method wherein a stern flow control device, preventing production of a bilge vortex and controlling a flow incoming to a stern propeller, is mounted to a stern bilge part. CONSTITUTION:In a ship wherein a screw propeller 7 is rotated clockwise as seen from the rear of a ship hull, a rotary cylinder 10 is mounted to a bilge part 5 forming a boundary between a ship bottom 2 and a ship's side 3 on the starboard side of a stern part 1. The cylinder 10 is connected to a driving unit 13, and this causes the cylinder 10 to rotate at the proper number of revolutions. An accelometer 17b is situated right above the screw propeller 7, and accelometers 17a and 17c are placed on both sides of the accelometer 17b. The number of revolutions of the cylinder 10 is controlled based on a fluctuation in a water pressure detected by the accelometers 17a, 17b, and 17c. |
