The valve produces a hydraulic pressure signal proportional to temp. or pressure. It comprises a number of bellows (22,32,28,38) acting on a valve nozzle plate (14) so that the temp. signal from a probe (10), which is a gas pressure, moves the nozzle plate to control the flow through the nozzle as a function of temp. thus producing a metered pressure proportional to temp. The bellows are arranged to minimise temp. error in the valve, the insides of the bellows (22,32) being exposed to the fluid pressure prevailing on opposite sides of the nozzle plate while the controlling gas pressure signal is applied to the exterior of the bellows (28,38). The chambers between the bellows are evacuated. Where the temp. sensed is engine inlet temp. the metered pressure may be used to control the fuel through the turbine engine as a function of the engine inlet temp. |
