PURPOSE:To obtain an excellent cation exchange membrane, by laminating a blend film of specific group-contg. polymers with a film of perfluorocarbon polymer contg. a carboxylic acid forming group, and deriving therefrom carboxylic acid and sulfonic acid groups. CONSTITUTION:A perfluorocarbon polymer having a sulfonic acid forming group of formula I and a perfluorocarbon polymer (B) having a carboxylic acid forming group of formula II are blended to form a filmy product, which is laminated with polymer B. Next, said carboxylic acid and sulfonic acid forming groups are converted into the corresponding acid groups to give a cation exchange resin which is useful as electrolytic diaphragm for alkali metal halide because of no lowering of current efficiency and no alklai metal halide contamination into a formed alkali metal hydroxide. |
