In the device for encasing a watch movement, the latter is fixed in the aperture (1) of a frame (2) itself fixed to the calibre (7) of the case by bolts (9) fixed to the support (2) and dropping into millings (13) in the calibre (7). The back (3) of the case, on its side, is fixed to the frame (2), against which screws (15), engaged in tapped holes (14) in the frame and passing through the back (3), keep it tensioned. The periphery of the frame (2) on the back side, is notched so as to form a housing (4) for a seal which the peripheral zone of the back (3) presses simultaneously against the back of the housing (4) and against the internal wall of the calibre (7). Through this arrangement, the free space customarily left between the movement of the watch or its support and the back of the case is eliminated and the back, which rests against a rigid piece, may be made very thin, thus enabling the thickness of the watch to be substantially reduced. The carrying over to the frame (2) of the fixing of the back (3) makes it possible to lighten the calibre (7), this being particularly advantageous when the latter is made of precious metal. <IMAGE>
