Process for incorporating a zip fastener, already provided with a handle slide, initial parts and, if appropriate, an end part and equipped with supporting tapes, by means of a concealed sewing seam in the region of the selvedges of two fabric webs, especially at the slit of an article of clothing. The handle slide of the zip fastener is moved into the open position, and the two supporting tapes of the opened zip fastener are laid onto the selvedge region of the associated fabric webs and the sewing seams are produced simultaneously from the initial parts to the handle slide of the opened zip fastener by means of a multi-needle sewing machine. The sewing seams are concealed by an operation to overturn the fabric webs so as to form folding edges, in such a way that the handle of the handle slide is located between the folding edges. The fabric webs are bent downwards to a greater or lesser extent into the vertical in the region between the sewing seams to be produced, so as to form a spacer gap. The zip fastener free of overturning is sewn with its smooth supporting tapes onto the non-bent horizontal regions of the fabric webs, in such a way that the handle of the handle slide points downwards to the spacer gap. The parts of the fabric webs hanging into the spacer gap and not connected to the supporting tapes are thereafter folded round into a plane parallel to the zip-fastener plane.
