摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the durability of an electrode by specifying the crystal structure of an alloy and its composition of constituent elements. SOLUTION: An alloy used in electrode has a labes structure of C14 or C15, expressed by A1 Nix-y-z-w-v Vy Nbz Bw Cv , where A is one or both of Zr and Ti, B is one or more kinds of Co, Mn, Cr, Fe, C is one or both of Al and Cu, and the conditions should be met such that 1.5<x<2.5, 0<y<1.0, 0<z<0.2, 0<=w<1.0, 0<v<0.3, and x-y-z-w-v>0.8. The resultant battery electrode incorporating this alloy has a large quantity of occluded hydrigen electrochemically and exhibits a high discharge capacity. Among the elements constituting the alloy, Nb contributes remarkably to enhancement of the durability of electrode and should only be added in an amount corresponding to a fraction of conventional Co content which is known as having effect to enhance the durability.
