Transparent depilatory gel and process for preparing it

The invention relates to a new transparent depilatory gel and process for preparing it. The depilatory cosmetic composition which takes the form of a transparent gel comprises: 10 to 20% by weight of at least one block copolymer of polyoxyethylene and polyoxypropylene; 1 to 10% by weight of at least one organic gelling agent having a cyclic structure; 1 to 7% by weight of a depilatory active substance; a sufficient quantity of a strong inorganic base to bring the pH of the composition to approximately 12-12.5; from 0 to 20% by weight of a humectant agent effecting swelling of the hair fibre; from 0 to 10% by weight of an agent imparting water-solubility; and a quantity of demineralised water to make up the volume.
