<p>A method and kit for the diagnosis and quantification of the state of oxidation, and more specifically, the level of lipid peroxidation, of a host is provided that includes contacting a host biological sample with an antibody to an antigen formed by the reaction of a lipid hydroperoxide with a primary amine. This method assesses the risk of, or existence of, oxidative damage in the host. The invention also includes monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies, as well as antibody fragments, optionally in purified or isolated form, which are useful in this method and kit.</p> |
