The invention relates to a process for the chemical crosslinking of shrinkable plastic material for mouldings with the aid of additives of crosslinking initiators. In the process, the plastic material is extruded or cast at a temperature below the initiation temperature of the crosslinking initiator. During subsequent crosslinking, the temperature is regulated to the necessary extent. The subsequent expansion is likewise carried out at a temperature below the crosslinking initiation temperature.
