PURPOSE:To read and discriminate the characteristic of an information forming layer by providing a display part to display the characteristic of the information forming layer at an information storage medium. CONSTITUTION:At optical disk medium 3, an information forming layer 4 is film-formed, and the groove is formed at the information forming layer 4. At the lower part side of the optical disk medium 3, a recording head 5 is provided, the light is irradiated in the groove of the optical disk medium 3 and the data are recorded by the coded signal. At the upper surface of the optical disk medium, a display part 7 to display the characteristic of the information forming layer 4 with a bar code 6 is provided. When the optical disk medium 3 is inserted into the main body 1 of the device, a bar code 6 is optically read by a detecting device 8, the reading information is fed back to a control circuit 9 and in accordance with the characteristic, the action of the recording head 5 is controlled. Thus, the characteristics of the information forming layer can be discriminated. |
