PURPOSE:To stably obtain a uniform developer layer on a developer carrying body even in long-term use or use under high-speed rotation by forming a control member of a soft elastic material in the part where said member contacts with the developer carrying body and setting a stress relief rate at a specific value or below. CONSTITUTION:The control member 10 is formed of the soft elastic material 10b in the contact part with the developer carrying body 5 and the body 10 is set at <=50% stress relief rate = (S0-S5min)/S0X100 when said material is displaced 50mum. S0 = the initial stress of the soft elastic material and S5min = stress after 5min. Always the uniform contact pressure and oscillation can be obtd. upon lapse of time between the member 1 and the body 5 by the elastic force of the member 1; therefore, the always uniform thin developer layer is stably formed on the developer carrying body without generating lines on the thin developer layer. Foreign matter, except the toner, which is clogged between the member 1 and the body 5 is easily removable by the oscillation of the member 1. |
