PURPOSE:To produce a strong and tough roll having high resistance to wear and surface roughening without deteriorating the resistance to slipping and cranking by constituting a rolling roll of a composite sleeve of which the outside layer consists of a low-carbon high-chromium cast iron and the inside layer consists of a special cast steel having high strength and toughness. CONSTITUTION:The composite sleeve of which the outside layer 2 consists of the low-carbon high-chromium cast iron contg. 0.8-1.2%C, 0.5-1.2% Si, 0.5-1.2% Mn, 0.5-2.0% Ni, 10-14% Cr, 1.0-2.5% Mo and <=0.03% both P and S and having 65-80 Shore hardness and the inside layer 3 consists of the special cast steel contg. 0.3-1.0% C, 0.2-1.0% Si, 0.2-1.5% Mn, 0.5-3.0% Ni, 0.5-5.0% Cr, 0.1-0.8 Mo and <=0.1% both P and S and having high strength and toughness is used to constitute the composite sleeve 1 to be used as the assembled roll for the roughing stand of a hot strip mill, etc. The outside layer is cast by a centrifugal casting method and he inside layer by a centrifugal casting method or ordinary stationary casting method. |
