Endless pressing belt for a device for the continuous pressing of a web of material to be pressed, in particular in the production of laminate webs from synthetic-resin-impregnated papers, in the synthetic-resin coating of fabric webs, in the production or treatment of chipboards, fibreboards and the like, which device has a heated pressing roll and a tensioning and deflecting device for the pressing belt looping around the pressing roll with interposition of the web of material to be pressed. The pressing belt consists of rubber or plastic, at least one helically guided tension cable embedded in the rubber or plastic, fabric inserts covering the tension cable and stabilizing edge strips with which the exposed braids of the tension cable are bound. The edge strips are designed as single- or multi-layer fabric strips. The braids are laid over a length of at least one metre onto the edge strip and bonded thereto by means of a sewn seam. The edge strips are covered by the fabric inserts and, together with these, are also embedded in the rubber or plastic. <IMAGE>
