A method for transferring, temporarily storing and forwarding an electrical signal (AiTTL) is proposed. It is forwarded in the form of two output signals (ABi, A'Bi), only one of which in each case exhibits a level complementary to an idle state (R), depending on the logic level of the electrical signal (AiTTL), during the forwarding. This makes it possible to reliably detect the transfer and temporary storage. A buffer circuit for carrying out the method exhibits two input stages (ST1, ST10) and two flip-flop circuits (FF1, FF10) which are in each case activated via four transistors (T1 to T4; T11 to T14) and a control logic circuit (SLS). The latter is also a part of the buffer circuit. The buffer circuit can be used for the most varied signals in semiconductor memories and microprocessor circuits. <IMAGE>
