Compounds represented by general formula (I), (wherein R<1> represents an amino group or an organic residue bound via a nitrogen atom, R<2> represents a carboxyl group or a group derived therefrom, R<3>, R<4>, R<5>, R<6>, R<7>, and R<8> may be the same or different and each represents H or an organic residue, including the case wherein R<5> or R<6> forms a chemical bond with R<7> or R<8>, and X represents H, methoxy or formylamino) show an excellent antibacterial effect and can be used as antibacterial agents.
