A pump assembly composed of a rotor (8), vanes (10) and a ring (11) is arranged between two pressure plates (5 and 12). The pressure plate (5) is supported on a locating surface (20) and is secured to the housing (1) by bolts (21). Tight axial tolerances are possible by the axial fixing of the pressure plate, which at the same time serves as a cover. A facing pressure plate (12) subjected to the delivery pressure of the pump possesses a pressure chamber (16) which is limited by a radial sealing ring (22) and an axial sealing ring (23). The latter ring (23), which is preferably supported by a back-up ring (25), holds in position the pressure plate (12), even when the pump is in the rest state, against a pump assembly (8, 10, 11), and holds the latter against the perfect plate (5). The pump has therefore excellent starting-up characteristics. During operation, the delivery pressure in a pressure chamber (16) ensures application of the pump components. The internal clearance losses are thereby minimized. |
