POLYPHENYLENE ETHER RESIN COMPOSITION

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled composition having improved melt-flowability without causing the lowering of impact strength, by compounding a polystyrene resin and a specific cyclopentadiene resin to a polyphenylene ether resin. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition can be produced by compounding (A) 20-100pts.(wt.) of a polyphenylene ether resin with (B) 0-80pts. of a polystyrene resin and (C) 3-100pts. (based on 100pts. of A+B) of a cyclopentadiene resin having a softening point of >=100 deg.C and obtained by (1) polymerizing 100pts. of a 5-membered cyclic compound of formula (R is 1-3C alkyl; m and n are 0 or >=1 and m+n=6) having conjugated double bond/or its Diels-Alder addition product and (2) reacting 1-80pts. of a component composed of (i) 60-100wt% aliphatic hydrocarbon having >=1 unsaturated C-C bond in the molecular and (ii) 0-40wt% aliphatic hydrocarbon compound having >=1 unsaturated C-C bond in the molecule and having a polar group such as carboxyl group, during or after the polymerization.
