PURPOSE:To reduce pressure drop in a flow passage and to facilitate control of catalyst by constituting a reactor of a catalyst layer itself or by arranging tubes having relatively high heat conductivity which is provided with a catalyst layer on its surface to contact with adjacent tubes with the tube walls. CONSTITUTION:Reaction tubes each having passage 1A of reactant with a wall 3 constituted of a catalyst and having rectangular sectional shape are placed side by side, and each group of the set of the reaction tubes is laid on another set of the reaction tubes leaving a specified distance forming thus passages 2A for flowing a heat medium 2. Reaction fluid 1 flows through a passage 1A. In another modification of the reactor, the passage of the reactant is formed to have circular cross section and the wall 3 of the passage is constituted of the catalyst, and reaction fluid is flowed countercurrentwise to the heat medium. In a further different modification, fins 22F are protruded in the passage 22A of the heat medium and passages 12 having smaller cross sectional area are formed together with auxiliary walls to the outside of the passage 22A. |
