PURPOSE:To reduce the number of inflection points that expresses an original pattern and to make sufficient compression possible by correcting positions of inflection points which are at right angles to each other and in specified positional relation and reducing the number of inflection points. CONSTITUTION:A straight line generating section 3 reads out an original pattern stored in an original pattern holding section 1 provided in a magnetic disk device 9, and generates a straight line connecting two arbitrary points out of dot information corresponding to border lines of the original pattern, and a border line cutting out section 4 extracts inflection points P1-P4 out of patterns of circular marks corresponding to border lines of the original pattern. When a point N obtained by shifting an inflection point P2 in the direction from an inflection point P1 to the inflection point P2 by 1 dot coincides with a point obtained by shifting an inflection point P3 in the direction from an inflection point P4 to the inflection point P3, and the border point exists at that point, an inflection point position correcting section 7 replaces coordinate of the inflection point P2 with coordinate of the point N and deletes the inflection point P3. Thus, a pattern so far expressed by four inflection points (P1-P4) can be expressed by three inflection points P1, P12, P4. |
