PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain both a cationic polymerization catalyst composition having conquered the influence of remaining acid without reducing curability of a cationic polymerizable compound and characteristics of cured material and a curable resin composition containing the cationic polymerization catalyst composition. SOLUTION: This curable resin composition is prepared from a photo-cationic polymerization initiator or a heat-cationic polymerization initiator, a compound of (e.g. a metal salt compound of an alkaline earth metal such as calcium, magnesium, strontium, etc.), which is subjected to a neutralization reaction with an acidic substance generated from a cationic polymerization initiator in a cationic polymerization after completion of a curing reaction, to form a compound insoluble or slightly soluble in water or an organic compound and is insoluble or slightly soluble in water or the organic compound and a cationic polymerizable compound such as an oxirane compound, for example, an epoxy compound or an oxetane compound.
