PURPOSE:To improve the discharge characteristic and the life of a nonsintered nickel electrode by coating a core material with a paste prepared by adding nickel flakes to an active material mixture made of nickel hydroxide. CONSTITUTION:After conductive nickel flakes are added to a nickel hydroxide powder, the mixture is kneaded with a solution of a proper binding resin to prepare a paste. The thus prepared paste is then fixed to the surfaces of a core material before the thus formed body is dried, thereby making a nonsintered nickel electrode for an alkaline battery. It is preferable that the content of nickel flakes in the paste be about 3-20wt%. As a result, the utilization rate and the life of the electrode during high discharge can be improved. |
