PURPOSE:To obtain an aq. dispersion of an ultrahigh-molecular-weight olefin, particularly ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene, which is suitable for use in coating, by forming an O/W type emulsion from a blend of an ultrahigh- molecular-weight olefin resin and a modified olefin resin, an anionic surfactant and water. CONSTITUTION:The titled emulsion is formed from a blend of an ultrahigh- molecular-weight olefin resin having a weight-average MW of 500,000 or above and a modified olefin resin mainly composed of olefin units and contg. 0.01-5m mol (in terms of a group of the formula) of carboxyl groups in the form of a salt in its main chain and/or on its side chain per g of the polymer, an anionic surfactant and water. Said blend exists as dispersed particles and water is a dispersion medium. |
